Normally, the system is taken from building to building in the protective carrying case. The system is set up on-site. This involves attaching the scanner to the tripod. Inside the building, the scanner is moved around in the set-up position. To manoeuvre more easily through doors, upstairs and down narrow corridors, push the tripod legs into the middle. If that is not enough, fold up one of the tripod legs. Before each scan, position the HottScan HS-1 so all of the relevant information is within its panoramic view.
After all of the scans in one building have been completed, put the scanner back in its carrying case.
Laser warning: The laser used in the HottScan HS-1 falls into laser class 2 and features a red laser beam in the visible range. Short exposure to this laser of up to 0.25 seconds is not dangerous to the eye. Under normal circumstances, the blink reflex causes the eye to close if exposed to the laser. However, as the blink reflex cannot be guaranteed under all circumstances and for all people, we recommend that you never look at the laser. The laser beam comes out of the upper opening of the rotating and tilting head, vertical to the front panel. The HottScan HS-1 switches on the laser only briefly during the stationary phase. Always look away from the laser beam. Watch for mirrors or other highly reflective surfaces. To be perfectly safe, leave the room when scanning is taking place.
