This dialog allows you to select a part from a series of predefined Constructions for building elements. To do so, select the category of the component and the component type. The table will now show you all corresponding components. In the field "Search terms" you have the possibility to search for any terms to find the desired component faster. Under the item "own components" you can find the components whose layer structure you have entered yourself and stored in your own catalog.

Layer structure

An important part of the calculation in the program is the exact knowledge of which layers (example interior wall: plaster, masonry, plaster) the individual components of the building consist of. For windows, for example, the U-value, window type, frame proportion and g-value are of great importance. In the module Component Catalogue you define the structure of the components. The components created in this program module are called "catalog components". The parts entered from the building input ("Building Data" → "Parts") refer to the corresponding catalog parts with known layered structure. The dimensions of the parts are defined in the building input. Example: Several exterior walls have been entered in the building input. To ensure that these walls have a layered structure, create an "Outer Wall" catalog component in the Parts Catalog module. This catalog component is selected in the "Catalog ID" field of the entered exterior walls. Thus, all exterior walls have the same defined layered structure. The separation of the building components from the catalog components has a decisive advantage: if a catalog component is used by several building components, changes to this catalog component will take effect for all building components connected to it.

Add catalog components

To create a catalog part, you can use the supplied parts catalog. It is divided into standard components, typology components, passive house components, manufacturer components and own components. Example exterior wall: Select "Wall against exterior". Clicking the "Add to Project Catalog" button or double-clicking the component will add it to the "Components in Project Catalog" (Components in current project). If you select the part in the part catalog, the selected part can be copied to the clipboard. Afterwards you can paste the part from the clipboard to "Parts in project catalog" or "Own parts". Parts under "Own parts" can be used across projects and programs.

Layer structure of the components

After the part has been inserted in the project catalog, the structure can be edited by double-clicking or selecting the "Layered Structure" button. By clicking on the representation of the component structure you can print out the layered structure with a description of all layers.

Editing the layering material

If you want to change the material of the layers afterwards or add another layer, select "replace" or "insert" in the view of the layers. Afterwards, a material can be selected from the catalog of DIN 4108-4 and DIN 12524.

By double-clicking on the layer in the detailed layer view, a window will open where you can change the heat transfer coefficient (U-value) of the component, for example

For plasters, PCM can be selected as an admixture under the "Edit" button in the layered construction window under "Layer contains...". A detailed description can be found here.

In addition to the description of the component (e.g. "homogeneous component"), the compartment of the component can be removed by clicking "manage".
