The lighting profile defines the type of lighting and how it is controlled.

For the type of lighting, the maximum power consumption in W/m² can be specified directly. Alternatively, the maximum value can also be specified by defining the existing lighting. With the button "Define lighting" you can select lighting types from a list or define your own lighting. The number and wattage are then transferred as maximum value. If the lighting is switched on, the heat output entered in the maximum value is supplied to the room. This heat output is divided into the convective and radiant part (in %, both parts add up to 100%). For the lighting profile, the convective component must be entered. If the exact division is unknown, a percentage ratio of 50/50 is to be assumed. For the automatic illumination control, a minimum brightness can be defined via the button "Define brightness". The heat output by illumination is then calculated based on the desired brightness and the efficiency of the lamps.

It is possible to control the lighting during the calculation. There are three operating modes for this purpose:

  • Automatic On/Off (default) - in automatic mode the lighting is automatically switched on when the actual illuminance in the room is below the required limit. Brightness entering through windows is distributed evenly over the room area (in contrast to VDI6007-3, which would require the specification of a daylight quotient). It must be taken into account that the lighting will also switch on at night in many cases when persons are present and when the sun protection is closed (see sun protection). If the room has no windows, the lighting is switched on if the room is occupied (controlled by the person day profile). No day profile can be created in "Automatic" mode
  • Manual On/Off - in manual mode the lighting is switched on according to the day profile. The day profile defines in which hour the lighting is on or off

  • Switched off - in this case the lighting is always switched off.

Notes

  • The heat input of the lighting can be seen in the results under "Thermal loads
  • All windows of the room are taken into account in the calculation, i.e. the actual illuminance is determined on the basis of radiation through all windows
  • When evaluating the thermal input of the lighting, the connection with the sun protection must also be taken into account
  • If there are several windows with different cardinal points, it can happen that the automatic sun protection, if any, is open in one window and closed in another. The automatic switching on of the lighting is therefore dependent on the overall condition of all windows with the respective sun protection
  • In bedrooms, it is recommended to control the lighting manually. In automatic mode, the control is linked to the room occupancy. This results in the lighting being switched on at night.
